Los Mantones de Manila llegaron al puerto de Sevilla a mediados del s.XVI, cuando Sevilla y Manila mantenían relaciones comerciales debido a la expansión colonial y al desarrollo en las rutas marítimas.< The Shawls of Manila came to the port of Seville in the middle of the 16th century, when Seville and Manila were supporting commercial relations due to the colonial expansion and the development in the maritime routes.>
